The days go slow, but the years go fast

Here's a DIY project that would be a great present for the someone during the holidays. It's a calendar journal, where you write one thing down each day, every year. Over the years you can look back at what you've done on that day in the past. Details aren't necessary -- just a few, simple words about your day!

Every autumn singes

The trees outside are telling me that it's fall.

The thermometer -- reaching a toasty 74 degrees today -- is laughing at me.

So, since I can't change the weather, I might as well try to bring some of that summertime campfire-feeling indoors.

My old, faded, blue jeans

How cool is this DYI denim kit? It includes the materials to distress, fade, bleach, and add studs to your jeans, in addition to fixing hems and waistlines.

It kind of reminds me of the Bedazzler. Remember that? Just for fun...

Flying high

Over the summer I stumbled across this little book called The Benefits of Looking Up, which is a collection of pictures of lost balloons. The photos were taken on the streets of New York City using the authors' iPhones.

I didn't really have a use for the book, but the quote on the back cover was so endearing that I couldn't let it go:

"In a city where everyone looks down, we decided to look up."

So, I've started ripping the pictures out and using them to decorate plain, brown, paper bags. My sister-in-law's birthday just passed, and I have this ridiculously cute gift bag but, alas, no gift. Of course.
